ANNUAL ELECTIONS

For Vestry and Delegates to the Diocesan Convention

Nominations for the Vestry and for Delegates to the Annual Diocesan Convention must be made in writing and signed by the person making the nomination and the person being nominated. All nominations must be given to the Secretary of the Nomination Committee, Darlene Swartzbaugh, by 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 15, 2011. Elections will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Annual Parish meeting.

There are five (5) openings for Vestry and two (2) postions as Delegate and one (1) Alternate to the Diocesan Convention. Any member of the Parish may nominate a person(s) for Vestry or as a Delegate to Convention or a person may nominate themselves. Requirements for Nominees for Vestry and Delegates to the Convention are as follows:

-----  Must be a registered and active member of the parish for at least six (6) months prior to the election;

-----  Be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church and have attained the age of 16 years;

-----  Regularly attend prayer and worship in the parish; and regularly contribute to the parish of their time, talent and treasure.

The duties of a Vestry Member are: to attend all Vestry meetings (normally 10 - 12 a year); be a member and attend all meetings of at least one Vestry Committee; attend the training program - Safeguarding God's Children (if not attended within three years prior to election) and attend the Annual Vestry Retreat (January 27 & 28, 2011). All new Vestry Members must attend an Orientation Program that will occur on Saturday, November 5, 2011 beginning with breakfast at 8:45a.m.

The duties of the Delegates to the Diocesan Convention are: to attend a meeting of all Delegates from the Lancaster Convocation approximately one month prior to the Convention and a follow-up meeting in the Fall after Convention; to attend the Convention (June 8 and 9, 2012), and report back to the Parish. The Alternate takes the place of a delegate if for any reason they can not attend.
